SLBAA is working hard to achieve our objectives and goals. We have numerous initiatives that are aimed at supporting and developing the Sudanese community in both Australia and Sudan. Our organisation is committed to building a better future for our members as well as the Sudanese
community as a whole.

- Provide the Sudanese youth living in Australia training in communication skills in order to help them establish an effective support network;
- Increase understanding of both Australian and Sudanese culture amongst the young people within the community;
- Encourage intergration into the wider Australian society;
- Promote gender equality and encourage Sudanese women to undertake leadership roles;
- Create research and learning programs on conflict resolution and community development in both Australia and Sudan;
- Undertake community development work in Southern Sudan;
- Learn more about Australian development strategies, in order to build better society in Sudan;
- Provide education opportunities for young Sudanese who have finished high school in refugee camps etc. but do not have access to higher education;
- Organise an annual conference for the Lost Boys in Australia to come together and talk about what we need to do to help our community back in Sudan.
- Movie nights to screen Lost Boys of Sudan documentary to raise awareness of the plight of the Lost Boys and to provide opportunities for the Lost Boys to tell the public their story
- Appreciation Day to give back to the Australian community and show our
appreciation for their support by volunteering and putting on a free concert featuring traditional and modern
performances
- Excursions around Victoria and/or other states to learn more about Australia and the Australian culture;
- Music, dance and dinner gatherings to provide the Sudanese youth an opportunity to socialise;
- Annual camps to promote a sense of belonging and togetherness amongst the Sudanese youth;
- Sporting activities e.g. athletics, soccer, basketball to encourage a healthy lifestyle amongst the Sudanese youth;
- Fundraising efforts to help fund activities, office equipment, website maintenance and other expenses;
- Expand SLBAA to include other states in Australia to increase the profile of our organisation and the Sudanese community in general; and
- Work with the Immigration Department to help more Sudanese youth leave the refugee camps and resettle in Australia.
